A SWOT analysis is a structured planning method used to examine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that might affect an eye care service provider.

Strengths and weaknesses are linked to internal factors; in this case at the eye unit and hospital level. Opportunities and threats come from external sources, in the wider health systems and the broader, general context.
