Lesson 9: Dispensing Considerations for DIMS Copy

When dispensing DIMs lenses to children, the Optometrist should select an appropriate frame. Ideally, the frame should be such that the pupils are around 2mm above the Horizontal Centre Line. Secondly, a frame that allows a minimum height of 12mm from the centre of the pupil to the top rim should be chosen. Thirdly, a frame with a minimum height of 13mm from the pupil to the bottom rim should be ensured. These frame measurements allow for eye movements in both the central and peripheral zones. Lastly, the vertex distance should be 10mm or less while the pantoscopic tilt should be around zero. A frame face form angle of 0 to 5 degrees is highly recommended.
